Students participate in a weekly sports lesson which focuses on skill development and cooperation with a trained teacher. Junior Primary classes also join together for a weekly dance lesson to improve coordination and fitness.

The school regularly invites specialist sports clinics to introduce students to new sports, such as volleyball, tennis or gymnastics. From 2018 Bellevue Heights Primary has participated in the Sporting Schools Program, a Federal Government initiative which provides grants for specialist sports programs / clinics which are run across the year levels for 4-5 weeks per term. In addition to this, students can join the Saturday morning sports teams: soccer, netball and cricket, or an after school program for basketball.

Older students can also participate in SAPSASA events. A number of students participate in the SA Cross-Country running carnival at Belair National Park each year. Others participate in swimming, athletics or trials for state sporting teams.

Classes participate in fitness activities during the week with their classroom teacher, both outdoors and in the gym.
