STEM

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education equips students with skills vital to their future. Along with our whole school Robotics program, all students are given opportunities to problem solve using the design cycle thinking.  This involves planning, drafting, creating and assessing in varying degrees depending on the topic.

Computing / I.T. Skills

All students have access to modern computer facilities and iPads from Reception to Year 6. Computer programs are used to reinforce classroom learning in engaging ways at the same time as learning the fundamentals of how to navigate computer technology.

Students develop skills in many areas as they progress across their primary years such as:

  • touch typing
  • computer drawing
  • word processing, spread sheets and PowerPoint
  • computer animation
  • music production
  • coding
  • research skills
  • internet safety and online etiquette
  • collaborative apps and activities
  • Microsoft teams
  • File management

Oliphant Science Awards

Students have the opportunity to enter the Oliphant Science Awards each year. The awards encourage students to explore scientific issues and concepts in creative ways.

Each year information will be sent home for families to consider. Entries are usually completed at home but need to be entered through our school contact.

Eric Nicholson (Science / Nature play teacher) is our school contact.
